It's the end of another week and hasn't this week flown by ! Sadly I have been sick all week...hence why there was no Simon Challenge post from me this week. But make sure you check out the Simon Challenge Blog for this weeks challenge, Jen has created a fab inspiration board for the challenge.
For this Simon Saturday we are going to be doing a review/look back at the latest Simon Release, Best Days. So grab a drink and settle down.
I will link to all the products at the end of this post, some items are currently out of stock but make sure you sign up for stock updates and you will be notified as soon as it comes back into stock.
I think 2018 so far has been a great year for Simon Says Stamp, their card kits have all been amazing and their releases have been just fantastic. But the latest release Best Days for me has been my favourite so far. I love that it was a nice mix of products, some totally new products and it was so nice to see something for new baby.
Simon's Picture Book range of dies is going from strength to strength and the cuteness in this release was fantastic, I got to play with the Crocodile one and he was awesome, I also have the lamb one (card coming soon for that) The thing I like about the picture book dies is how versatile they are and can be used in so many ways.
In case you missed my release post for Best Day's this is the card I created using the Croc die.
I honestly loved creating this and if you have any boys or animal mad girls in your family this is a total must.
Simon also added something new to the Picture Book Range this release and that was the Sky Background die.
I like that its quite simple and will work so well with the range. I also like the clouds....I am very fussy with cloud dies. You could also easily use this as a stencil and for shaker cards.
This release also saw Simon add to their very popular Spring Flowers sets with the Even More Spring Flowers set.
I have the previous sets and if you are looking for some nice easy to colour florals, but also florals that look equally nice uncoloured then I would recommend these. The subtle stitch style detailing really makes them that bit different and stand out.
There was several easter elements in this release, but for me the one that stood out is the Doodle Egg Background stamp.
I just love the look of this and think paired with a simple sentiment would be all you would need, especially great for bulk creating cards. It's also nice to see something different from your normal cutesy bunny style easter set.
A MUST for me in this set and i will be ordering it with my next order is the Big thanks stamp set.
I truly believe you can never have enough sentiment sets and I have struggled to find some nice sets that are just for thanks, and also are quite small so that they can be paired with a Thanks die cut. This set ticks all the boxes and i love some of the beautiful sentiments included.
Speaking of sentiment sets the latest from CZ Design is a great one.
CZ Design joined the Simon Family last year and her fun , modern stamps and designs are so much fun, if you have a teenager then I'd get this set....The You Are Flipping Amazeballs sentiment I just love.
Something totally new from Simon this release was the Daniel Smith Watercolour sheets.
At only $4.99 these look so much fun and instantly hit me as something you could easily take on trips with you, or for maybe sitting in the garden etc they all come with dots of Daniel Smith watercolours which last forever and could be a great starting point for someone wanting to try watercoloring for the first time. I will be buying one of these and will let you know how it goes.
The final item I really loved from this release is the Oh Baby Stamp set.
The main thing i love about this is how simple it is, but at the same time includes so many fine details such as the solid stamp if you don't want to colour. I used this set for my Blog Hop card below and it was lots of fun to create with.
So what did YOU think of this release, hit or miss ? did you order anything ?

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear you've been sick, Tracy. I always enjoy your projects & get ideas! I am still debating about whether to order anything from the new release as I need to use what I got in my last order! However, the 2 flower sets are both going on my wishlist & I do love Suzy's doggy cards, but I'd probably mess them up with my lack of coloring skills. I do have plans to case one of your cards today--hopefully it will work out like I have in my head--haha! Take care of yourself! Sending hugs, Greta
